A: Good thinking. By the way, several filk dealers still have copies of Less Than
Art, and many Buffalo, NY area record stores are likely to have a copy or two
remaining. So if you run across one you should buy it immediately and consider yourself
fortunate.

all this I hear about two new CDs available only through otmfan.com
A: This is very cool news indeed. Below is an excerpt from Ookla News where Rand tells us
all about it.
A week or so ago I promised you all two Ookla CDs by the end of the year. Well, I wasn't blowing smoke. And now, the moment some of you have been waiting for: Poor Man's Copyright on CD! That's right, after years of requests, we finally caved. The Rand and Adam Tape on CD. All sixteen tracks of Ookla's primordial soup. Some of these songs were rerecorded and eventually found a home on Ookla two previously released CDs. Others will eventually be rerecorded and released on future Ookla projects. But we're pretty sure that at least six of these baby's will never see the light of day again. For those of you who don't know, in 1992, Adam and I made a tape of the sixteen songs we had written that year. When I say we made a tape, I mean we hit record and starting strumming. No studio. No tracking. Just two microphones, two pickups, and a radio shack spring reverb unit. The quality of this recording is what we musicians call bad, but I have it on good authority that the recording is "charming."

The other new Ookla CD is called Sucking Out Loud: Ookla the Mok Live at Windycon 25. As the sharpest of you have no doubt figured out, this is a live album. More than that, it's a full Ookla show, beginning to end (we didn't remove the obnoxious Ookla banter). And most importantly, it was one of the last shows we did with Luis, captured on tape for all eternity! The show was performed on November 14, 1998 at Windycon in Chicago. While the show was recorded to ADAT off the board, we had no intention of releasing this recording commercially, so it should be understood that the sound is less than optimal. It's obvious on the first track that we're getting our bearings sonically, but it gets better I promise you. Ironically, the sound issues resulted primarily in a low guitar sound, which I'm sure will make some of you consider this the best mixed Ookla album ever! (Which is another way of saying that you can hear every word.)

FURTHER WARNING: To reiterate, these recordings are not up to the professional standard of Less Than Art and Super Secret. This is why they're only available through our fan page. We don't imagine that anyone would want access to these if they weren't already our fans, and frankly, we'd rather have potential new fans starting with our "official" recordings.
FINAL WARNING: The packaging on these CDs is photocopied. (But they're photocopies of great Adam artwork and witty liner notes!)
